My wife dropped her phone and needed to recover all of her pictures stored there. This worked perfectly!
It would be helpful for most users if they included a brief instruction sheet on how to insert the SD card in the TF slot. The cards are delicate and if someone tried to force it upside down or something they could ruin it.
Other than that, I simply plugged in the SD card in the TF slot, plugged the reader into a USB slot on our PC and moved her pictures to our PC with file manager (Windows 10).
My wife is happy which makes me happy ;-)

You must have a desktop computer to plug this into the motherboard.

I used to extract contacts from a SIM card. Showed that there weren't any on there which is likely true, but am happy that it worked to view SIM card contents. I used Windows XP. Booted with device plugged into motherboard. Once logged in, it ask to load drivers for new hardware. Clicked that we had a CD. It loaded drivers. Multiple drives appeared in My Computer. One of them had a ReadMe, setup.exe, and wizard.exe file. The Setup file loaded a program that once loaded made the drives disappear . So, I uninstalled it (Realtek something or another). I then ran the Wizard file and it gave the option to download the SimReader (or something) software. Once that was loaded, we launched it and it immediately recognized the SIM card.
When testing a Micro SD card, one of the drives was mapped to it. Just had to click through them all to find which one was marked for the Micro SD cards.

I was looking for a card reader with a USB port and a Smart Card slot. This was the only one I found with both. The price was good, and it had the added benefit of supporting several additional media types. The installation was a little tricky because it was an incredibly tight fit in my 3.5" expansion slot. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get it in or that I might damage it by pushing so hard. Once I got it in place the rest of the installation was incredibly easy-just plug it in, power on the computer, install the driver from the provided disk, and try it out. I have tested the USB, Smart Card, and SD card slots, and they all meet my expectations. As other reviewers have noted, the CFI slot does not appear to be very well designed, but that is not an issue for me. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase.
Pros: Support for many useful media types, including Smart Card
Cons: Tight fit made installation tricky, poorly designed CFI slot

Awesome little addition to my desktop. Was very easily plug and play and it reads everything I've put into it so far (CAC card and SD card). Only complaint is the speed at which it transfers information from PC to SD card (could be the card, will have to see) and that the screws for the mounting bracket for those of us who don't have a 3.5 bay are too far forward, preventing this guy from sitting flush in my case. Other than that, no complaints. Great product.
